Inventory the meaning of each asset
Record the intended audience situation, question, promise, evidence and next step. Ignore file names such as “final-v7” when judging coverage. Several sizes of the same asset are useful for placement, but they do not create several learning hypotheses.
Separate assets that introduce the problem from those that explain implementation or evaluate fit. Do not force every ad to answer every buying question. Give the destination page a clear role in completing the explanation.
Use a coverage worksheet
| Customer question | Suitable evidence | Coverage check |
|---|---|---|
| What does this help me do? | A clear task demonstration | Is the result understandable? |
| Does it fit my situation? | A specific use case | Are fit boundaries visible? |
| Can I start successfully? | Prerequisites and setup | Are obstacles explained? |
| Why should I trust it? | Permitted, relevant proof | Does the proof support the claim? |
| What happens after purchase? | Onboarding or delivery steps | Does the next step match the offer? |
The worksheet identifies gaps; it does not imply that every question deserves a separate campaign or asset.
Worked example: twenty assets with no setup explanation
Illustrative example: a SaaS team has twenty short ads about speed. None shows the integration required to produce the promised output. Prospects click, then leave when setup becomes clear. The missing asset is a realistic setup explanation, not a twenty-first version of the speed headline.
A setup demonstration may reduce unqualified clicks while improving the suitability of trial users. Evaluate activation and support questions, not only click-through rate. An asset can help the business by filtering poor fit rather than maximizing volume.
Prioritize gaps with evidence
Use repeated customer questions and journey drop-offs to decide which missing explanation matters. If buyers already understand setup but hesitate about migration, focus there. Avoid filling the worksheet merely to make it symmetrical.
Choose one gap and specify the evidence required, production effort and intended outcome. Reassess after the asset has served enough of the relevant journey. Combine this audit with the angle matrix so concepts are both distinct and useful.
