Identify the evaluation questions
Visitors need to know what the app does, who it helps and what effort or conditions are involved. Screenshots should explain meaningful tasks instead of showing interface fragments without context. Keep the visual sequence readable on a small screen.
The app page and acquisition creative should describe the same value. A campaign promoting one workflow should not send users to a page that appears to be about something else.
Build the page explanation
- Name the main supported task in clear language.
- Show representative screens or demonstrations from the actual app.
- Explain important requirements and conditions accurately.
- Use current platform-supported testing options where available.
- Review activation and retained behavior after installation.
Check current store requirements before publication. Platform fields, testing eligibility and presentation rules can change.
Product-page audit
| Element | Question |
|---|---|
| Main message | Is the useful task recognizable? |
| Screenshots | Do they show real supported behavior? |
| Sequence | Does each frame answer a buying or usage question? |
| First-use expectation | Does onboarding deliver what the page implies? |
Worked example: screenshots with a job
Illustrative example: a planning app's screenshots show creating a task, organizing the next action and reviewing progress. Each frame explains a practical step. A set of decorative dashboard images with no task context may look polished while failing to explain the benefit.
Compare product-page response with later activation. A more dramatic preview may increase installs but attract the wrong use situation.
Avoid misleading proof
Do not fabricate ratings, review quotes or capabilities. Use authorized and accurate evidence. The store page should make the real product easier to evaluate rather than create a fictional ideal version.
Is ASO only about keywords?
No. Discovery and conversion both matter, and the product experience must support the promise. This guide focuses on the conversion explanation.
Should screenshots contain every feature?
Prioritize the tasks that help a suitable visitor understand fit. Detailed information can follow where the platform allows it.
Put this into practice
Assign a customer question to each product-page frame. Replace any frame that does not explain a real task or support the app's first-use promise.
